GETTYSaint Lucia is hailed as one of the most beautiful Caribbean Islands

So it really is no wonder that, despite Hurricane Irma tearing through the Caribbean last year, St Lucia is still one of the most popular holiday resorts amongst Britons.

Known for its romantic red sunsets and luxurious white sand beaches, the Island is the perfect setting for weddings, honeymoons and anniversaries alike. Boasting numerous five-star hotels, St Lucia really is well-prepared when it comes to catering for couples.

Serenity at Coconut Bay is one fine example of where to stay during a romantic getaway. Its one of St Lucia’s newest, all-inclusive, adult-only resorts, and just minutes from the airport.

Each suite boasts a plunge pool, private deck, 24-hour butler service and a personalised top-shelf bar.

While the rooms have a modern feel, they are not without personality with standalone baths in each room, a four-poster bed and an outdoor bar area.

But if romance isn’t the sole purpose of your Island visit, St Lucia does just as well with its family-oriented offering.

St James’ Bay has a wealth of water sports and land activities for adventurous families, alongside five different bars and six distinct restaurants. And there's also Rodney Bay Village, which is the Island’s only resort where you can party the night away.

For those adventurous, thrill-seeking families, Rainforest Adventures zip-lining is something not to be missed. Taking you deep into the lush rainforest, a group of knowledgable locals will teach you about the greenery of their land before hitching you up to a series of zip lines that take you through the tree canopy.

The locals are full of fun and flair and will make your day unforgettable - in fact, the infectious joy for their job is almost as enjoyable as the experience itself.

But if it’s the food and drink scene you’re into, then you’re in for a treat there too. St Lucia is home to Boucan, Hotel Chocolat‘s cocoa estate and boutique hotel - which not only consists of one of the most beautiful and luxurious hotels on the Island, but offers a bean to bar tour experience that’ll excite every chocolate lover.

The tour takes about an hour or so and involves you making your own chocolate bar from scratch and taking a small tour around the estate.
